Shaman

An original Charcoal and Pastel painting on paper substrate mounted on foam board.  The subject is a dignified figure whose face is rendered with notable realism, showing wrinkles and lines that suggest his age and wisdom.  The expression is serene yet powerful, with eyes downcast conveying a sense of spiritual reverence.  He is adorned with an elaborate ceremonial headdress crafted with a combination of dark rich fur at the top and flowing along with textured elements that extend down the sides.  The blending creates smooth transitions while deliberate lines and marks add texture and definition.  The overall mood conveyed is one of solemnity, respect, and a profound connection to cultural heritage consistent with my artistic focus on Native American themes.
